Clik here to view. The new 2012/13-football season has got under way and the Hammers are ready to do battle. With 3 games already gone and two of them won by West Ham, the team is in this for the long run after a short spell in the npower championship.
Every West Ham United fan can remember the battles along with the heartaches of last season. At one stage the hammers were sailing along and the next it looked liked they wouldn’t make the play-offs.
Well, they did, and they beat Blackpool at Wembley for the final place for Premiership glory and top-flight football again.
The last game saw West Ham thrash Martin Jol’s Fulham 3 goals to nil and new summer signing Andy Carroll gave the fans a glimpse of what we can expect from them this season. It was a shame that he limped off later in the game with a hamstring injury.
The big forward will provide great aerial support for the likes of Ricardo Vaz Te, Matt Taylor and Mohamed Diame and with his help; the Hammers look set to stay in the Premier League where they belong.
West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has been busy building a good side throughout the past year and the fact that the boss was ready to splash some cash with some new signings just shows his belief in the team and what he wants to achieve in the future.
Another new signing who has just been released by Chelsea on loan is the Israeli player Yossi Benayoun. Benni, as he is known to the Hammers’ fans is an ex West Ham player and quite popular, too. The fans have given him their seal of approval and maybe playing in the next match. The Blues agreed to pay a larger slice of his weekly salary and that’s what tempted him for a return to Upton Park. We are sure he is going to do well, too.
The Hammers are also waiting on the outcome of their tender for the Olympic stadium, which was the star of the show at the London Olympics 2012. The stadium is a real beauty but there were some issues to sort out regarding the seating arrangements and the fans not being close enough to the pitch. Once those issues are cleared up and the tender granted, then West Ham United will truly have arrived back in the Premier league where they belong.
